Natural Hair

At MetroplexBeautySchool we don't get to do many "natural" styles. Twist, Locs, Braiding on natural hair. We get plenty of blow dry/flat irons.

I had the pleasure of seeing 3 different styles this week. I did the rope twist to scalp or aka 2 strand flat twist. So many names. I look forward to those receiving services to spread the word. I don't graduate until Feb 2013. Providing I stay on track!

Where Are the Clients?

Perhaps it's the change in the weather.
There were very few clients today.

We did have an impromptu fading class by Mr. Turner. I'm always happy to learn new techniques. Too bad it was AFTER. I did the fade on James!

But nevertheless I did learn something new today.

I qualified for a service today, thanks to Apple for my pretty nail design.

Another Graduation

Michael has left the ranks. It was nice knowing him. I will remember all of his helpful tips.

Packing the Bag

Finally the bag is packed! I've reorganized things to get them all in my school issued bag. It's not an easy task either. I was using a rolling suitcase but its just too heavy lifting into my SUV. Back breaking.

And since the scolding of students NOT cluttering the hallway with the bags; I decide to trim it back. If we get more students; not going to be enough room.

Now granted our SMALL lockers don't have enough room to for storing supplies over night. Very few items fit; don't try to store other items or lunch pack its NOT going to work, period. If anyone can offer suggestions I'm open to new and or other ideas. My nail kit does not fit it has to be carried separately. Plus my purse and other items needed.

It's challenging.

Saying Goodbye to Ms. Lynch

Not sure how everyone else feels, but by the looks of the photos, I think she will be missed.
She was one of the evening instructors. I enjoyed my time getting to know her
 and I'm appreciative of all the many tips and knowledge that she has shared with me.

Best Wishes, and you will be missed. She was a personable instructor.

Hairstyles on Friday

It's very slow today. I've only done a haircut on a live client. The rest on my doll.

Hours, Hairstyling & More

I'm happy of the progress of my hours. (taking time off does not help, but vacations are needed).
The goal is looking to be closer than I think. Trying to pay more attention to my services and how many more I have to complete. I'm sure I will have enough with the remaining time I have to spend at school. BUT one can never be too sure or have too many services. Besides....be over does not hurt.  I still deciding on my method of attach to go down the list or just do what I feel. I will evaluate this after viewing my next report card and services list.

Today I did a set of acyclic nail tips on my wood sticks. We get 3 mani's for doing this. I'm not so good but I managed. I know now that using more product helps, the bead of product needs to be larger. And oh yeah, cut the tip short, this way you will use less product. Doing long nails are brutal.
 I still need practice, I don't think anyone would want the set I did on their hands.
Maybe after a few more practice sessions. :)

A few of my fellow students will be graduating within months and or taking the written test. I'm happy for them and sad at the same time. The time I've had to spend with them has been fun.
After all Cosmetology school is suppose to be fun.

I keep forgetting to take pics of my styles. I will try to do a much better job the remaining days of this month. If I can remember. It would be NICE to get some helpful reminders.

This has been a very busy week and tomorrow will be no different.  Hopefully I will survive tomorrow (Saturday); then my wonderful 2 days off!

Well Needed Overhaul of Classroom

The classroom has been updated with posters!  I have always thought it could use an overhaul.
The posters are copies out of our text book. The larger door placket is the actual cover of the book.
Looks nice all shiny and clean.

What I need to find are others who attend Cosmetology not with me, who can share information. I'd like to know what happens in their classrooms. The comparing of notes.
